Safety of an ammonia heart scan at CHUM

N-13 Ammonia Safety

Who can take part

  • Be an adult and be scheduled for a medically needed heart blood-flow scan (PET MPI) at CHUM
  • You must be able to undergo the scan in the scanner (not unable due to strong fear or claustrophobia)
  • If you are pregnant, you cannot take part
  • If you are breastfeeding, you must be willing to temporarily stop during the study
  • You must not have a reason you cannot receive the stress-test medicines or the chosen stress method (dipyridamole, aminophylline, dobutamine, or exercise)
