Who can take part
- You are age 16 or older and can provide informed consent (or you can with legal support).
- You have a confirmed diagnosis of inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis).
- Your disease is “active” right now, based on symptoms and/or blood/stool/investigation results (like high CRP, or high fecal calprotectin, or signs on scope/imaging/biopsy).
- You have bowel areas that can be examined with a colonoscopy or flexible sigmoidoscopy (and this exam is not medically unsafe for you).
- You either already had the right scope test within the past 6 weeks with detailed results and photos, or you can have it at the start of the study.
- You should not have certain serious complications (like toxic megacolon, dangerous obstruction/sepsis, major abscess, or concerning cancer/dysplasia).
