- What is a clinical trial?
- A clinical trial is a research study that tests whether a new treatment, drug, device, or approach is safe and works. People volunteer to take part, and the study follows a careful plan to answer a specific health question. Trials are how new treatments are proven before they become widely available.
- Is Clin2 free to use?
- Yes. Searching for studies, reading summaries written for real people, and checking whether you might qualify are always free for patients and caregivers. We never charge you to find or understand a trial.
- Where does Clin2 get its trial information?
- Every study comes from ClinicalTrials.gov, the official U.S. clinical-trial registry maintained by the National Library of Medicine. We keep our own up-to-date copy and rewrite each study for real people, not researchers — we read the dense eligibility rules and put them in language you can actually use. For the official record, each trial page links back to its ClinicalTrials.gov listing.
- How do I know if I qualify for a trial?
- Each study has eligibility criteria — the rules about who can take part, such as age, diagnosis, and prior treatments. On every trial page we list these in words written for real people and offer a short, optional pre-screen that asks a few simple questions to give you a fit read. A pre-screen is only a starting point; the study team makes the final decision about whether you can join.
- Is it safe to join a clinical trial?
- Clinical trials follow strict safety rules and are reviewed by independent ethics boards. Every trial has potential benefits and risks, which the study team must explain to you before you agree to take part (this is called informed consent). Talk with your own doctor about whether a specific study is right for you.
- Does it cost money to take part in a trial?
- It depends on the study. Many trials cover the cost of the study treatment and related visits, and some reimburse travel. Others may bill your insurance for routine care. The study team can explain exactly what is and isn’t covered before you decide.
- Will my health information be kept private?
- Yes. Your condition and any pre-screen answers are sensitive health information, and we treat them that way. We keep identifiable health data separate and access-controlled, and we never share it with a study, sponsor, or site without your explicit consent. You can export or delete your data at any time.
- Can I leave a trial after I join?
- Yes. Taking part in a clinical trial is always voluntary. You can choose to stop at any time, for any reason, without it affecting your regular medical care.
- Do I need a doctor’s referral to use Clin2?
- No. Anyone can search Clin2 and read about studies. If you find a trial that interests you, it’s a good idea to talk it over with your doctor, who knows your full medical history.
- Does Clin2 give medical advice?
- No. Clin2 helps you find and understand clinical trials, but it is not a medical provider and does not give medical advice or diagnoses. Always talk with a qualified healthcare professional about your treatment decisions.
