  • You are 18 years or older
  • You are at least 37 weeks pregnant (full term)
  • Your baby is head-down (vertex position)
  • Your water has not broken yet (intact membranes)
  • Your baby's head is not too low in the pelvis (station above S-4)
  • Your cervix is not yet favorable for labor (Bishop score less than 6)
