Collecting cells from leftover surgery tissue for lab testing

Surgery

This trial collects discarded tissue from certain surgeries and grows it in the lab to study cell culture methods. It may help researchers improve how they prepare and use cells for future medical research.

Who can take part

  • You are scheduled for a surgery being done by one of the surgeon co-investigators.
  • During your surgery, leftover (“discarded”) tissue may be available to collect.
  • You are being operated on by an eligible study surgeon team.

Study platform for solid organ cancers

This study looks at people who have had a standard-of-care biopsy or surgical tissue removal for a solid organ cancer. The goal is to test how treatment options work based on the information from those tissue samples.

NCT00900471Recruiting
Store tissue samples from surgery for suspected solid tumors

This study collects and stores small tissue samples from people who have surgery or a biopsy for a suspected solid (non-blood) tumor. It helps researchers study these cancers for future testing and research.

NCT03832062Recruiting
Using leftover cancer tissue to study tumors

This trial studies whether analyzing leftover tissue from cancer surgery can help researchers learn more about tumors. It may help improve future diagnosis or treatment by making use of tissue that would otherwise be discarded.

London
NCT04753593Recruiting
Using Leftover Surgery Tissue for Research

This study collects tiny pieces of tissue that would normally be thrown away during heart or bone surgery. Researchers will use these samples to better understand how tissues work and develop better treatments. Your participation involves letting doctors keep and study a small amount of tissue removed during your scheduled surgery.

NCT00898131Recruiting
Donate tissue samples during breast cancer surgery for future research

This study collects small tissue samples from women having surgery for breast cancer. The samples are stored to help researchers learn more and develop better treatments in the future.

Studying live tumor samples from surgery

This trial collects a small piece of your tumor right after it is removed during surgery. Researchers will study this tissue to learn more about cancer and how it responds to treatments.
