This trial compares how well resin-based tooth fillings work (how well they “match” with the tooth and don’t cause problems) in children’s back baby teeth. You may be invited if you have a cavity that needs treatment and none of the listed situations apply.

Who can take part
- You have one or more cavities (carious lesions) in primary (baby) molars that need treatment
- The cavity must not have reached the tooth nerve (“pulp”)
- You should not need a very large filling that replaces a whole tooth cusp (tooth point)
- No mouth inflammation or gum/oral infection symptoms in the last 2 weeks
- No orthodontic braces or dental appliances, and no fixed or removable prosthesis in place
- You should not have had diagnostic dental X-rays in the last 2 months, and you should not have prior dental restorations on the treated teeth
