- Your child is between 12 months and 9 years old and scheduled for a colonoscopy
- Your child weighs at least 22 pounds (10 kilograms)
- Your child has regular bowel movements (at least a few times a week) for the past month
- Your child does not have serious liver, heart, or kidney problems
- Your child has not had major bowel or stomach surgery (removing appendix or polyps is ok)
- Your child does not have a history of seizures or certain nerve problems
