Testing a new artificial urinary sphincter for urine leakage

Stress Urinary Incontinence

This study checks whether an implanted device called ARTUS® can safely and effectively reduce persistent urine leakage in men with severe stress incontinence. You may qualify if your symptoms have been present for over a year and you can attend follow-up visits and manage the device remote control.

Who can take part

  • Be a man age 18–80 when you sign consent
  • Have urine leakage for more than 12 months
  • Have severe stress urine leakage (tested by 24-hour pad weight results)
  • Be able to read, understand, and sign consent, and follow study instructions
  • Be willing to attend follow-up visits and use the device remote control on your own
  • Accept that you cannot have MRI scans after surgery because the device is not MRI-safe
