Who can take part
- You are age 18 or older.
- Your planned surgery is a laparoscopic (keyhole) extended right hemicolectomy for cancer in the cecum, ascending colon, or hepatic flexure.
- Your CT scan shows colon cancer stage 1 to 3 (not stage 4).
- You have not had a prior surgery incision across the middle of the abdomen or across the upper/lower abdomen (a midline or transverse laparotomy).
- Your overall health is good enough for surgery (ASA 1 to 3).
- You are not taking medicines that affect your immune system (immune-modulating medication).
