Who can take part
- You have one of these specific infections being treated during your hospital stay: bone/joint infection, endocarditis (heart valve infection), meningitis/brain infection from infection, empyema (infected fluid in the lung area), septic arthritis, prosthesis infection, spondylodiscitis, or a lower-chest infection that is chronic.
- You are able to give consent (or have the right person to consent).
- Your infection cannot be adequately treated with oral (by-mouth) antibiotics alone.
- The IV antibiotics chosen for you must be suitable for delivery through a pump at home.
- You are stable and should not need frequent in-person healthcare checks.
- After training, you can correctly use the IV pump and do the required at-home procedures.
- Your home has a safe fridge space for medicines, clean conditions, and support/suitable living situation.
- You have a mobile phone and can communicate quickly and securely with a regional response team.
