  • Your child is medically stable and doesn't need to stay in the hospital for monitoring
  • You can change the pump or cassette (the container holding medicine) at home or at the hospital
  • You can contact the hospital quickly if your child has problems
  • Your child's diagnosis is clear—doctors know what infection or illness they have
  • Your child is not allergic to the antibiotic being used
