Who can take part

  • You must be 18 to 80 years old.
  • You must be scheduled for a stem cell transplant at Duke clinic or be treated for heart failure with strict intake/output monitoring.
  • If you are a transplant patient, you must be able to perform daily activities fairly well (score 70 or more on the Karnofsky scale).
  • You must be able to read and write in English.
  • You must not use a stoma, catheter, or wheelchair/transfer device to go to the bathroom.
  • If you are being treated for heart failure, you must be at least 5 feet 3 inches tall.
