Empagliflozin study for kidney and belly membrane function

End Stage Renal Disease on Dialysis

Treatments studied

Part of Kidney & urinary clinical trials.

This trial tests whether empagliflozin improves kidney health and the function of the belly’s dialysis membrane in people with end-stage kidney disease who do peritoneal dialysis. It may help by changing how well the peritoneal dialysis system works and how the kidneys perform over time.

NCT06483074Recruiting· Phase 2
Empagliflozin to preserve kidney function in new peritoneal dialysis patients

This trial tests whether empagliflozin, a medication originally for diabetes, can help protect the remaining kidney function in people who have just started peritoneal dialysis. If you started dialysis within the last 3 months and still make some urine, this study may be a good fit.

NCT06249932Recruiting· Phase 4
Empagliflozin for heart failure and end-stage kidney disease

This trial tests whether empagliflozin, a medication for heart failure, can help people who also have end-stage kidney disease and are on dialysis. It aims to see if the drug improves heart function in this group.

Hsinchu, Taiwan
NCT06249945Recruiting· Phase 4
Empagliflozin for heart failure with preserved ejection fraction and dialysis

This trial tests whether a medicine called empagliflozin (used for diabetes and heart failure) can help people with both heart failure (with preserved pumping ability) and end-stage kidney disease who are on dialysis. The study looks at how the drug affects heart function and overall well-being.

NCT05786443Recruiting· Phase 2
Empagliflozin test in adults on regular dialysis

This study tests whether the medicine empagliflozin is safe and helpful for adults who are on regular hemodialysis and still make a small amount of urine. The goal is to see if it can improve health outcomes while tracking side effects closely.

Boston, Massachusetts
NCT05726032Recruiting· Phase 2
Empagliflozin for fluid buildup from cirrhosis

This Phase 2 study tests empagliflozin to see if it can improve fluid buildup (ascites) in people with cirrhosis. It may help reduce symptoms related to fluid retention, but you must meet specific safety and stability requirements.

New Haven, Connecticut
NCT07074418Not yet recruiting· Phase 4
Empagliflozin for advanced kidney disease in type 2 diabetes

This trial tests if empagliflozin, a medicine that helps control blood sugar and protect the kidneys, is safe and effective for people with type 2 diabetes who have very low kidney function (eGFR between 10 and 20). It aims to see if the drug can still benefit the heart and kidneys at this stage.
