This trial uses CT scan images and a look inside the abdomen (laparoscopy) to predict whether advanced stomach cancer has spread to the lining of the abdomen (the peritoneum). It may help your care team better identify who already has peritoneal spread and who might not.

Who can take part

  • You have advanced stomach cancer (at least cT3) confirmed by biopsy plus endoscopy findings.
  • You have had both a contrast-enhanced CT scan and a laparoscopy (a camera procedure to look inside the abdomen).
  • Your CT scan does not already show typical signs of peritoneal metastasis (like omental nodules, “omental cake,” a lot of fluid in the belly, or clearly abnormal peritoneal thickening with strong enhancement).
  • You do not have signs on CT of spread to other organs (and no stage IV features on CT).
  • You have not had abdominal surgery before.
  • No prior abdominal cancers or inflammatory diseases; and your CT and laparoscopy were within 2 weeks of each other.
  • Your CT images are clear enough to reliably look for peritoneal lesions (no major image artifacts).
