Who can take part
- You must be in one of these groups: healthy adult (18–65), term newborn (38–42 weeks), premature newborn (28–36 weeks), or pregnant (28–40 weeks).
- For your group, you should have no medical problems and no special treatments (routine care is only allowed for premature babies).
- You (or the newborn) must not be taking substances that could affect the test (toxicant intake is not allowed).
- You must be able to stay still for a few minutes during the scan.
- If you have a pacemaker or other implanted metal/brain devices that can cause interference, you may not be able to do the scan.
- Newborns who need breathing support (ventilation) or IV fluids are not eligible, and age must match the correct range.
