Who can take part

  • You must be an adult (not a minor).
  • You must need at least one peripheral IV line (an IV started in a hand/arm).
  • You must be able to understand the study and give consent (or have consent from a permitted source).
  • You should NOT already have an IV line or catheter in place when you arrive.
  • You should not be in certain critical situations like shock, or have severe injuries (polytrauma) where the study does not apply.
