Who can take part

  • Your BMI must be between 18 and 25.
  • You cannot be a smoker.
  • If you are trained: you exercise at least 5 hours per week, with at least 3 hours being endurance training, and have a doctor's note saying you're fit for intense exercise.
  • If you are sedentary: you exercise less than 1 day per week or less than 2 hours of structured exercise per week.
  • You cannot have any medical condition that would prevent you from doing the exercise tests.
  • If you are female, your menstrual cycles must be regular (no irregular periods, oligomenorrhea, or amenorrhea).
