Who can take part
- You are between 40 and 85 years old.
- You are having a total hip replacement using a cut on the back of your hip (posterior approach).
- Your overall health is good enough to be considered low to moderate risk for surgery (ASA 1, 2, or 3).
- You do not have serious memory or thinking problems like Alzheimer's, dementia, or delirium.
- Your hip replacement is not because of a broken hip (fracture).
- You do not have an infection where the surgery will be done, and you are not allergic to numbing medicines.
