  • You are between 18 and 80 years old.
  • You are having planned hernia surgery (not an emergency).
  • Your hernia is between 4 and 8 centimeters wide (about 1.5 to 3 inches).
  • You are not having other surgeries at the same time (like gallbladder or stomach surgery).
  • You do not smoke or use tobacco.
