Who can take part

  • You are 18 years old or older.
  • You speak English, Spanish, or Arabic.
  • You have just given birth and are currently in the Mother & Baby Unit at the hospital.
  • Your baby was born full-term (at least 37 weeks of pregnancy).
  • Your baby is not in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
  • You are not planning to place your baby for adoption, and legal guardianship is known.
  • You are willing to take part in a new way of asking for permission to use leftover newborn screening blood samples for research.
