Testing D-OCT Scans for Detecting and Sorting Skin Cancer

Basal Cell CarcinomaOptical Coherence Tomography

This study tests a special camera (D-OCT) that takes detailed pictures of suspicious skin spots to see if it can help doctors identify and classify a common skin cancer called basal cell carcinoma. If you have a spot that might be non-melanoma skin cancer or a pre-cancer, and your doctor already plans to scan and biopsy it, you may be able to join.

Who can take part

  • You are 18 years old or older.
  • You have a skin spot that your doctor thinks might be a type of skin cancer that is not melanoma, or a pre-cancerous spot.
  • Your doctor has already decided to take a close-up scan (D-OCT) and a tiny skin sample (biopsy) of that spot as part of your normal care.
  • You can understand and sign a consent form to be part of the study.
