Who can take part

  • You are 70 years old or older.
  • You have a type of head and neck cancer called squamous cell or undifferentiated cancer, stage III or IV.
  • You are planning to have radiation, radiation with chemotherapy, or radiation with a targeted drug (cetuximab) as treatment.
  • You have not had another cancer in the last 2 years, except for very early prostate cancer, early bladder cancer, non-melanoma skin cancer, or cervical cancer in situ.
  • You have not received chemotherapy or other systemic treatments for a previous cancer.
  • You are willing to sign a consent form and have adequate organ function.
