This study tests whether songwriting in music therapy can improve mental health for parents of very premature babies in the NICU. If you are feeling depressed or anxious, you may be able to join a program that helps you express feelings through music.

Who can take part
- Your baby is in the NICU and was born at 32 weeks or earlier, with a stay expected to be at least 3 weeks.
- You (the mother) scored 10 or higher on the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale, or you (the father) scored 7 or higher.
- You (mother or father) scored 8 or higher on the GAD-7 anxiety test.
- You do not have a hearing problem that would prevent you from taking part in music therapy.
- You do not have a serious mental illness or thinking problem that makes it hard to complete the study activities.
- Your baby is not in palliative or end-of-life care, does not have hearing loss, and is not in foster care or under social services custody.
