New imaging tests to check kidney transplant health

This study is testing two new types of scans that use sound and light waves to check the health of your transplanted kidney without needing a needle biopsy. If you are already scheduled for a biopsy, the researchers want to see if these scans can give the same information in a less invasive way.

Who can take part

  • You have received a kidney transplant.
  • Your doctor has already decided you need a biopsy (a small tissue sample) of your transplanted kidney as part of your regular care.
  • You are 18 years or older.
  • You are not allergic to the contrast agent called SonoVue (used in ultrasound).
  • You do not have tattoos on the area near your kidney transplant (lower abdomen or side).
  • You are not pregnant or breastfeeding.
