Who can take part
- You have symptoms like fever, headache, or muscle weakness that could be West Nile virus.
- A blood, urine, or spinal fluid test has confirmed you have the West Nile virus (positive IgM or PCR).
- You are either 70 years or older, have severe West Nile affecting the brain or nerves, or have a weakened immune system.
- You are at least 18 years old and not pregnant.
- You do not have a severe allergy to interferon-beta or serious liver disease.
- You have had neurological symptoms for no more than 8 days (or 10 days if you have a weakened immune system) and are not already getting better on your own.
