Who can take part

  • You are 60 years old or older.
  • You have had long-term constipation (according to the Rome IV criteria, such as straining, hard stools, or feeling blocked).
  • In the past 2 weeks, you had fewer than 2 complete bowel movements per week without using laxatives or enemas.
  • You have had a colonoscopy in the last 5 years that showed no major problems (or only small polyps less than 0.5 cm).
  • You are able to follow instructions in Chinese and use WhatsApp and an electronic diary.
  • You are not currently taking medications that could affect the study (like antibiotics, painkillers, or hormones) and have no history of allergy to Chinese herbs.
