Stripping massage for rhomboid trigger points in women
Treatments studied
Part of Pain clinical trials.
This study tests whether a specific massage technique (stripping massage) can relieve upper back pain caused by trigger points in the rhomboid muscles. It focuses on women aged 18 to 40 who have not had neck or shoulder surgery.
Summary written for real people, not researchers, by Clin2.
Who can take part
- You are a woman between 18 and 40 years old.
- You have active trigger points (tender knots) in the rhomboid muscles (between your shoulder blades).
- You have upper back pain (from the top of the shoulder blade area to mid-back) that rates at least 3 out of 10 on a pain scale.

This trial tests whether a specific strength training program for the rhomboid muscles can help people with upper crossed syndrome, a condition that causes forward head posture and rounded shoulders. It may improve posture and reduce pain.
This study compares two stretching techniques for a condition called quadratus lumborum syndrome, which causes low back or hip pain. Researchers want to see which type of muscle stretch works better to relieve pain and improve movement.
This study compares two gentle, hands-on treatments (Emmett and Bowen techniques) to see which works better for long-lasting neck and shoulder pain caused by muscle knots (trigger points). It may help you find a non-invasive way to ease pain and improve movement.
This study tests whether remote physical therapy (done online) can help relieve neck and upper back pain caused by tight knots in your rhomboid muscles. You would receive guided exercises and treatment through video calls instead of visiting a clinic in person.
This trial compares two hands-on techniques to help relieve neck pain and tightness in the upper trapezius muscle (the muscle between your neck and shoulder). It may help you move more easily in daily activities.
This study compares two gentle hands-on techniques to relieve low back pain caused by muscle knots in the quadratus lumborum (a deep lower back muscle). It may help if you have had back pain for at least 3 months and find it hard to move certain parts of your lower back.
