Spaced radiation for gynecologic cancers

Who can take part

  • You have cervical cancer and have finished external radiation, but standard internal radiation is not possible because of your uterus or pelvic shape, a large remaining tumor, or a very narrow vagina.
  • You have inoperable endometrial (uterine) cancer and standard internal radiation after external radiation cannot cover the whole tumor.
  • You have a large pelvic cancer that has come back after surgery or radiation and cannot be removed or treated with standard internal radiation.
  • You have a condition that makes it unsafe to receive anesthesia for brachytherapy.
  • You do not have an existing fistula (abnormal opening) in your bladder or rectum.
  • You do not have a pelvic prosthesis (artificial implant in the pelvis).
  • You are willing to provide consent to participate.
