How very premature babies learn to eat by mouth

This study looks at how very premature babies (born at 28 weeks or earlier) learn to eat by mouth and whether they develop any feeding or mouth problems later. Researchers will review medical records from past years to see what helped or hindered their progress.

Who can take part

  • Your baby was born at 28 weeks or earlier in pregnancy.
  • Your baby was born between January 2018 and December 2021.
  • Your baby was admitted to the Croix-Rousse hospital’s newborn unit within the first 3 days of life.
  • Your baby went directly home from the hospital (or to a nursery) — not to another hospital ward.
  • Your baby did not have a major surgery (except hernia repair) or a severe birth defect.
