EMDR therapy for long-term itching

Chronic Pruritus

This study tests whether a psychological therapy called EMDR (which uses eye movements to process difficult memories) can help reduce chronic itching. You may be able to join if you have had moderate to severe itching for a long time and are not on certain other treatments.

Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 75 years old.
  • You have a confirmed diagnosis of chronic pruritus (long-term itching).
  • Your itching has been at least a 4 out of 10 in the last week.
  • You have been stable on your current treatment for at least two weeks.
  • You are not currently on phototherapy (light therapy).
  • You do not have serious heart disease, or a severe psychiatric condition like dementia or delusional disorder.
