- You are a woman between 18 and 54 years old
- You have been diagnosed with deep endometriosis that may involve the bowel (usually found by a special ultrasound)
- Your surgeon plans to remove a small piece of the bowel during surgery to treat the endometriosis
- You do not have a known inflammatory bowel disease (like Crohn's or ulcerative colitis)
- You are not having emergency surgery
