  • You are planning to have a painless surgical abortion (a procedure to remove pregnancy tissue under anesthesia).
  • Your body mass index (BMI) is over 24, which means you are overweight or obese.
  • You are generally healthy enough for anesthesia (rated as ASA I or II by your doctor).
  • You are able to understand and sign a consent form.
  • You do not have lung problems, breathing issues, airway blockages, neck problems, or a mental health condition that would prevent participation.
