- You are 16 years old or older.
- You have had a fever for at least 3 days, but no more than 21 days.
- Your doctors have not yet found a clear reason for your fever after basic tests.
- You are admitted to the hospital's medical unit (not just the emergency room).
- You do not have a weakened immune system, HIV, or a very low white blood cell count.
- You have not been hospitalized for 2 days or more in the last month.
