- Child must have end-stage kidney disease and have been on peritoneal dialysis for at least 3 months.
- Child's body surface area must be less than 1.5 square meters.
- Child must not have had a hernia, belly wall or genital fluid leaks, or a lung-diaphragm connection.
- Child must not have peritoneal membrane scarring or failure.
- Child must not have had peritonitis in the last 2 months.
- Child must not have switched from hemodialysis to peritoneal dialysis in the last 3 weeks.
