Who can take part

  • You have symptomatic uterine fibroids that are inside the uterine wall or on its outer surface, confirmed by ultrasound.
  • You are scheduled for either a hysterectomy (removal of the uterus) or myomectomy (removal of fibroids only).
  • You are between 18 and 55 years old.
  • You have no suspicion of cancer in the uterus or other active tumors.
  • You have never had chemotherapy or radiation therapy.
  • You are not pregnant and have no history of pelvic organ prolapse or related pelvic floor problems before surgery.
