Long-term study of saroglitazar for PBC with cirrhosis

Primary Biliary Cholangitis

Treatments studied

Part of Digestive system clinical trials.

This study tests a new drug called saroglitazar to see if it can improve long-term outcomes in people with primary biliary cholangitis (PBC) who have cirrhosis. It may be an option if you are already on UDCA or cannot take it, and if your liver function tests meet certain levels.

Who can take part

  • You are 18 or older and have been diagnosed with primary biliary cholangitis (PBC).
  • You are either on a stable dose of ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA) for at least 6 months, or you cannot take UDCA and haven't taken it in the last 3 months.
  • You have evidence of cirrhosis with specific blood test results (elevated ALP and bilirubin not too high).
  • You do not have other liver diseases like hepatitis B or C, or severe liver complications (like being on a transplant list).

Testing seladelpar for PBC with compensated cirrhosis

This study tests an experimental oral drug called seladelpar for people with PBC who also have cirrhosis that is well-controlled. The goal is to see if it helps improve liver health and manage symptoms without causing serious side effects.

NCT07424677Not yet recruiting· Phase 3
Saroglitazar for PBC with incomplete UDCA response

This trial tests a new oral medication, saroglitazar magnesium, for people with Primary Biliary Cholangitis (PBC) who have not improved enough on standard therapy (UDCA) or cannot tolerate it. The goal is to see if it can help control liver enzymes and improve outcomes.

NCT05749822Recruiting· Phase 2/Phase 3
Fenofibrate for primary biliary cholangitis with stable cirrhosis

This trial studies whether fenofibrate (a cholesterol medicine) can improve outcomes in people with primary biliary cholangitis (PBC) who already take ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA) but still have abnormal liver blood tests. It specifically looks at people with “compensated” (stable) cirrhosis—meaning the liver disease is present but not causing severe complications right now.

NCT07122206Not yet recruiting
Monitoring the response to ursodiol and seladelpar for PBC

This trial tracks how well the combination of ursodiol and seladelpar works in people with primary biliary cholangitis (PBC), a liver disease. It aims to see if this treatment helps control symptoms and liver function.

NCT07282353Recruiting· Phase 3
Study of CS0159 for primary biliary cholangitis with poor UDCA response

This trial tests an experimental drug (CS0159) for people with primary biliary cholangitis (PBC) who either didn't respond well to or couldn't take the standard treatment UDCA. It aims to improve liver function and reduce symptoms.

NCT05751967Recruiting· Phase 3
Fenofibrate plus ursodeoxycholic acid for primary biliary cholangitis

This trial tests whether adding fenofibrate to ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA) can improve liver test results in people with primary biliary cholangitis (PBC) who did not respond enough to UDCA alone. It aims to see if the combination works better and is safe for adults with persistent, abnormal liver markers.
