Can Fluorescein Dye Help Remove Brain Tumors?

Who can take part

  • You have a suspected aggressive (fast-growing) tumor in your brain or spinal cord, seen on MRI or CT scan with contrast dye.
  • You are able to give permission for the procedure (consent) and do not have severe memory or language problems.
  • You are not allergic to contrast agents (scan dyes) or fluorescein (a special dye used during surgery).
  • You have not had a heart attack or stroke in the last 3 months.
  • Your kidneys and liver are working well (no severe failure).
  • If you are a woman, you are not in your first trimester of pregnancy or breastfeeding.
