Who can take part

  • You were born female and are between 18 and 29 years old.
  • You live in the Kambia district (or a nearby area) and plan to stay for the next 12 months.
  • You are willing to be tested for HIV and must test negative.
  • You are not pregnant and will use effective birth control if sexually active.
  • You have not had an HPV vaccine before and agree to receive one dose of Gardasil 9 if chosen for the vaccine group.
  • You can give urine, blood, and cervical samples and understand the study.
