Who can take part

  • You are at least 18 years old
  • You are pregnant with one baby (not twins or more)
  • Your pregnancy is full-term, between 37 and 42 weeks
  • Your baby is head-down
  • Your water has not broken yet
  • A low Bishop score (measure of cervical readiness) before starting the procedure
  • Your doctor says you need to have labor induced
  • You have not had a C-section or other surgery on your uterus before
  • You have no condition that would make vaginal delivery unsafe
  • Your baby has no major medical problems
  • You are not already in labor or having regular contractions
  • Your baby's position and heartbeat are stable
  • You don't have an infection or prior breast surgery that would prevent nipple stimulation
