  • You are older than 50 years old.
  • You have a broken hip (proximal femur fracture).
  • You are scheduled for surgery to fix the fracture with plates and screws.
  • You agree to have spinal anesthesia and participate in the study.
  • You do not have any blood clotting problems or take blood thinners that would make spinal anesthesia unsafe.
