  • Be between 18 and 60 years old and in good general health
  • Agree to use effective birth control (if applicable) during the study and for a period of time after
  • Not have had chikungunya, Zika, dengue, or similar mosquito-borne diseases in the past 90 days
  • Not have traveled to areas with these viruses in the past 90 days
  • Not have received a chikungunya or related vaccine in the past 90 days
  • Be willing to avoid other vaccines and certain medications during the study period

Observational study of chikungunya vaccine effectiveness in Brazil

This study looks at how well the VLA1553 vaccine prevents chikungunya disease in parts of Brazil where the vaccine is being offered as part of a pilot program. If you live in one of those areas and have had symptoms that might be chikungunya, this study will use your health records and blood tests to check how effective the vaccine is.

Study of a treatment for newborns exposed to chikungunya

This trial tests a new treatment (PC-CHIK-V) for newborns whose mothers had chikungunya around the time of birth. The goal is to see if the treatment can prevent or reduce the infection in babies. Babies who are not treated will also be followed for comparison.
