Who can take part
- You have been diagnosed with stomach cancer or cancer where the stomach meets the esophagus (Siewert type I or II).
- Your cancer is in the early to moderate stage (T1-T3, N0-N2) and has not spread to other parts of the body.
- You are scheduled to have surgery to remove the upper part of your stomach with the goal of curing the cancer.
- Your surgery can be done through a cut in your belly, using small tools (laparoscopic), or with robotic assistance.
- You have not had any prior surgery on your stomach or colon.
- You are not having emergency surgery or surgery that is not meant to cure the cancer.
