- You are between 18 and 50 years old.
- You have small, smooth bald patches on your scalp covering less than 25% of your scalp.
- You have not been treated with topical methotrexate or minoxidil before.
- You have not used any hair loss treatments for alopecia areata in the last 3 months.
- You do not have other types of hair loss (like pattern baldness or scarring hair loss).
- You are not pregnant or breastfeeding, and you do not have uncontrolled thyroid disease, diabetes, or autoimmune connective tissue disorders.
