New electrical scan to find childbirth tears

Who can take part

  • You are an adult woman legally able to give consent.
  • This is your first pregnancy that has reached at least 22 weeks or resulted in a baby of at least 500 grams.
  • You plan to give birth vaginally (including with forceps or vacuum).
  • You do not have active inflammatory bowel disease affecting the anal area.
  • You do not have implants in your pelvic area (such as a pacemaker, IUD, or surgical hardware).
  • You are not currently in another study about childbirth or anal health.
