Who can take part

  • Be between 18–23 years old or 65–75 years old
  • Have a normal or slightly overweight body (BMI between 18 and 30)
  • Either eat meat regularly (more than 3 times per week, more than 70% of protein from animal sources) or follow a vegetarian diet (no meat or fish, more than 70% of protein from plants)
  • Be in good overall health with no serious medical conditions (high blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease, liver or kidney problems, or digestive disorders)
  • No known food allergies
  • Not pregnant, not an elite athlete, and not consumed excessive alcohol
