- You are scheduled for planned (elective) open gallbladder removal surgery
- Your overall health is good or has only minor medical issues (ASA class I or II)
- You are not allergic to numbing medications (local anesthetics)
- You do not take blood-thinning medications or have a bleeding disorder
- You do not have serious liver, kidney, or heart disease
