- Child is between 3 and 12 years old
- Child is in generally good health (no serious heart, lung, or other organ problems)
- Child is scheduled for planned (elective) tonsil and adenoid removal surgery
- No active infections or serious ongoing illnesses at the time of surgery
- No seizure disorder, epilepsy, or other neurological conditions in the child's history
- Parent or guardian can give written permission and understand the study
