- You are 18 years or older
- You are having surgery on your upper arm, forearm, hand, or shoulder
- Your wound is clean enough and suitable for primary closure (stitching right away)
- You do not have uncontrolled diabetes, take chronic steroid medications, have a weakened immune system, or have poor circulation in your limbs
- Your wound is not heavily contaminated, infected, or has significant tissue loss
- You are not allergic to suture materials
