Who can take part

  • You are a healthy pregnant woman, 18–45 years old
  • You are between 27 and 36 weeks pregnant (in your third trimester) at the time of vaccination
  • Your ultrasound shows no major fetal abnormalities and a normal pregnancy
  • You have not received a diphtheria, tetanus, or whooping cough vaccine during this pregnancy or in the past 5 years
  • You are willing to provide blood samples from yourself and your newborn, and to be followed up for 1 month after delivery
  • You are of Japanese ethnic origin
