Resistance training for older cancer survivors

Who can take part

  • You are age 65 or older
  • You were diagnosed with cancer (any stage) within the last 5 years
  • You finished surgery, chemotherapy, or radiation at least 3 months ago (ongoing hormone therapy is okay)
  • You have difficulty with daily activities like bathing or climbing stairs, OR you walk slowly (take more than 13.5 seconds to stand up and walk 3 meters, or more than 12 seconds to stand up and sit down 5 times)
  • You can walk on your own (canes or walkers are fine, but not wheelchairs)
  • You exercise less than 30 minutes of moderate-to-vigorous activity on fewer than 3 days per week
  • You have reliable home internet for video calls and can commit to attending 80% of exercise sessions
  • You speak fluent English and have no moderate dementia
